HCMC – Truong Son Construction Corporation has commenced sand mining to supply materials for a critical section of the Cao Lanh–An Huu Expressway, a key infrastructure project aimed at bolstering connectivity in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta.

Authorized under National Assembly Resolution 106/2023/QH15, the sand mine is expected to churn out up to 300,000 cubic meters of sand. This material will support essential construction activities, including access roads, bridges, and foundation stabilization along the expressway.

Located on the Tien River in Tan Khanh Trung Commune, Dong Thap Province, the mine covers 18.78 hectares, with an approved extraction depth of up to 17 meters. Operations are scheduled to run daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a monthly extraction cap of 77,100 cubic meters.

The sand mining phase began on January 15 and is expected to last four months, concluding by May 15 or earlier if the maximum extraction volume is reached.

Dong Thap authorities have emphasized strict adherence to operational guidelines. These include monitoring extracted volumes, safeguarding environmental stability, and fulfilling financial and regulatory obligations.

Truong Son Construction Corporation has secured rights to three sand mines across Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces, with total reserves of about one million cubic meters. These supplies are expected to fully meet the demand of the 11.43-kilometer expressway section.

Section No. 2 of the Cao Lanh–An Huu Expressway spans 3.8 kilometers in Dong Thap and 7.6 kilometers in Tien Giang. It will connect with Section No. 1 in My Hiep Commune, Dong Thap, and the Trung Luong–My Thuan Expressway in An Thai Trung Commune, Tien Giang.

Part of Vietnam’s broader infrastructure development strategy, this expressway aims to improve transportation and economic linkages within the Mekong Delta region.
