HCMC – The HCMC government has plans to attract 54.5 million tourists this year, including 8.5 million from abroad and 45 million from the domestic market. The city’s tourism sector aims to generate VND260 trillion in revenue.
According to the city’s Department of Tourism, a key factor in achieving this goal is the recent launch of Metro Line No. 1, which connects Ben Thanh Market and Suoi Tien Theme Park.
The metro line offers a new mode of public transportation for tour operators to create innovative itineraries, connecting popular attractions in District 1 and Thu Duc City.
The project is expected to enhance the tourist experience, potentially offering elevated city views, while also reducing travel time and traffic congestion.
The department is developing new tourism products, including tours designed around the 50th anniversary of the Reunification Day (April 30). HCMC is currently focusing on digital initiatives, such as a tourism app and a three-dimensional 360-degree map linked to regional attractions.
Promotional activities are being ramped up, with plans to participate in major international tourism events such as the ASEAN Tourism Forum and TRAVEX in Malaysia, as well as promotional programs in Australia.
Many hotels in the city are providing discounted room rates, especially for long-term stays, along with added perks like spa discounts, airport transfers, and attractive dining options.
