HCMC – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has granted flight slots and transportation rights for Emirates (EK) at Danang International Airport, allowing the airline to operate flights to the central coast city.
On December 27, 2024, Emirates requested slot confirmation for its Summer 2025 schedule, proposing to operate the Dubai-Bangkok-Danang route with arrival and departure times in Danang at 9:50 p.m. and 11:55 p.m. local time.
However, after reviewing the request, CAAV found that the 9:50 p.m. to 11:55 p.m. slot was already at capacity and could not be granted, aligning with previous rejections for Air Macao (China) and Eastar Jet (South Korea) due to congestion.
As a result, CAAV suggested Emirates adjust its departure time to between 10 p.m. and 10:55 p.m. The aviation authority coordinated with the Danang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) to determine check-in counter allocation and operational feasibility.
Following discussions, AHT proposed a 10:15 p.m. departure time, which CAAV deemed suitable for the airport’s infrastructure and operations. On January 7, CAAV officially requested Emirates to modify its schedule, and the airline agreed, placing its original 11:55 p.m. departure request on the slot waitlist.
Emirates was granted a slot from January 7 and transportation rights starting January 24, allowing the airline to proceed with its flight permit application.
CAAV will issue the flight permit within seven working days after Emirates submits all required documents through the electronic system. If an 11:00 p.m. slot becomes available, CAAV will consider adjusting the airline’s schedule accordingly.
