Having provided poor residents in areas under lockdown with thousands of tons of rice, having built two Covid-19 treatment facilities at the Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital, having printed millions of Covid safety brochures, having established a team to transport Covid-19 patients, and having joined hands to study a Covid-19 antiviral in Israel are among the practical activities CT Group has done over the past four months to join forces with the central Government and HCMC to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since HCMC practiced stringent social distancing in the fourth Covid-19 wave, many people have lost their means of living as they were banned from leaving their homes without legitimate reason. The poor in particular has seen their life going from bad to worse. To ease their difficulties, CT Group has launched the rice ATM program by installing rice dispensers to provide the staple food for the poor for free at 20A Truong Dinh Street, District 3 and 360 Hanoi Highway, Thu Duc City.
Thanks to the program, many lottery ticket sellers, scrap collectors and other underprivileged people have received rice amid the pandemic. CT Group’s activity has brought joy to the disadvantaged in the city during the toughest days.
CT Group has also called on the community to lend the poor a helping hand. The group has bought over 1,200 tons of rice and cooperated with the HCMC Union of Business Associations and other agencies to give rice to residents in 350 areas under lockdown in the city.
“CT Group is determined not to let residents face a shortage of food or contract illnesses” has become a viral slogan inspiring the community while HCMC was struggling to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
In fact, CT Group leadership has encouraged the group’s employees to actively get involved in activities to share difficulties with the disadvantaged people during the pandemic. Chairman Tran Kim Chung, at a meeting with managers of the group on the Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day 2021 (October 13), stressed that as businesspeople, all managerial personnel of the group must get ready to lend a helping hand to the poor.
All leaders and employees of the group have united to help the disadvantaged overcome the difficulties. Tens of billions of Vietnam dong for the Covid fight in the city has been sourced from the group’s budget and donated by its employees.
Moreover, the group has presented ventilators to medical facilities treating Covid-19 patients in critical condition, printed millions of brochures on anti-pandemic measures to support the municipal Department of Information and Communications to raise local residents’ awareness of the Covid-related risks and accompanied Military Region 7 in many programs to support the poor.
CT Group has also donated more than 600 beds worth over VND300 million to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC to support the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
Notably, volunteers of the Covid-19 patient transport team, who are employees of CT Group, have been activated to take the patients to the nearest hospitals.
All employees of CT Group have been talked into believing that “April showers bring May flowers” and “even the dark night will end and the sun will rise”. With the community’s unity and support, the pandemic will be brought under control soon.
CT Group Chairman Tran Kim Chung, during the meeting with the group’s managers on October 13, managed to psych them up, saying that “Compared with others in society, you are all rich people. Compared with thousands of people who have left HCMC for their hometowns on motorbikes and bicycles, or even on foot, you are super rich. Therefore, as businesspeople, you should help others and live an active and exciting life so that you will not regret or waste any minute.”
Chung reminded the managers of the original mission that CT Group has embraced since the first days that the group pursues development for the community.
With its practical and effective contributions to the fight against the pandemic, the group, which specializes in the real estate, construction, finance, retail, tourism and technology sectors, was awarded a certificate of merit by the HCMC government on the Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day.
