HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed authorities to complete a road linking the new Gia Binh Airport in Bac Ninh Province to Hanoi within two years.

During a Government meeting on February 23, Chinh instructed relevant ministries and local authorities to expedite investments for the airport’s second phase.

At the project’s first-phase groundbreaking ceremony in December last year, he called for a detailed connectivity plan by June 2025.

Gia Binh Airport is a dual-use facility designed to support military training and operations while easing congestion at Noi Bai International Airport. It will serve air defense needs and specialized transport missions in northern Vietnam.

The project also includes a modern logistics center to support e-commerce. The airport is planned to meet Level 4E international standards, spanning 363.5 hectares. By 2030, it is expected to handle one million passengers annually, with capacity rising to three million by 2050. Significant investments are planned for both development phases.
