HCMC – Vietnam and India have agreed to enhance trade and investment cooperation, aiming to attain US$20 billion in bilateral trade in the near future.

During a March 17 meeting in New Delhi, Vietnamese National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai and Speaker of the India Lok Sabha (lower house) Om Birla reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties across various sectors, including trade, investment, defense, agriculture, culture, and tourism.

Birla expressed support for Vietnam’s efforts to expand market access and trade cooperation, highlighting the need to boost agricultural collaboration, cultural exchanges, tourism development, and air connectivity between the two countries.

Hai encouraged Indian corporations to invest in Vietnam, particularly in strategic infrastructure, digital transformation, and high-tech industries.

As part of efforts to deepen legislative ties, Birla announced that the Lok Sabha plans to establish a Vietnam-India Parliamentary Friendship Group and expressed India’s willingness to assist Vietnam in legislative training and exchange programs.

On the same day, Hai visited India’s Comptroller and Auditor General, where discussions focused on technology applications and digital transformation in auditing. Both sides agreed to renew a bilateral cooperation agreement on auditing and expand collaboration in digital auditing and sustainability auditing.

As part of the visit, which runs from March 14 to 19, the Vietnamese delegation also paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his statue in G20 Park, New Delhi.
