HCMC – HCMC will hold a full rehearsal tonight for a light show featuring 10,500 drones over the Saigon River, ahead of the official performance scheduled for the evening of May 1.
According to a new plan approved by the HCMC People’s Committee, the rehearsal will take place from 8:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. this evening (April 28), with the main event set for the same time on May 1. The drone show is part of the cultural and sports program titled “Colors of the City named after Uncle Ho Chi Minh”
Earlier, the rehearsal was planned for April 29 at 10 p.m., with the main event originally set for April 30. The new schedule advances the rehearsal by a day and shifts the main performance to the evening of May 1.
The drone performance will span both banks of the Saigon River, covering areas in Thu Duc City and District 1. Organizers plan to apply for a Vietnam record for the largest number of drones flying simultaneously.
The city’s Department of Culture and Sports has been tasked with coordinating technical checks in collaboration with the police and other agencies to ensure safety and security for the event.
The “Colors of the City named after Uncle Ho Chi Minh” program features a series of activities from April 29 to 30, including 3D mapping art, fireworks, water-based performances such as flyboarding and sailing, and traditional folk performances, among other activities.
Events will be held at key locations such as the HCMC People’s Committee headquarters, Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, the Opera House, Bach Dang Wharf, Thu Duc City Park, and on the Saigon River.
