Dong Nai students to return to in-person classes on Nov 22

HCMC – Dong Nai Province will allow students to get back to in-person classes from November 22, asking each district or city to select one to four schools for reopening.

The provincial government on November 5 issued a school reopening plan after a months-long suspension induced by the stay-at-home order.

The district-level authorities were told to assess the safety levels at schools and decide when schools can get back to in-person instruction from November 22 to December 1, the local media reported.

Communes, wards and towns at low or moderate risk of Covid-19 community spread should direct schools which meet all Covid safety regulations to resume in-person classes. First, second, ninth and 12th graders should be prioritized to return to school.

Kindergartens should reopen to children aged five first, but must have different time frames to pick up students and not provide breakfast in the initial stage.

Universities were told to reopen their doors if they meet Covid-safe requirements, while foreign language and informatics centers should operate at 50% capacity.

As for communes, wards and towns at high or extremely high risk, kindergarteners will continue to stay at home, while schools will continue organizing online classes.

After December 1, the district governments and schools should review and assess the reopening.

To date, Dong Nai has had 100% of adults 18 and older getting the first vaccine dose and 73.6% of them getting fully vaccinated. The provincial Department of Health is working with the Department of Education and Training and districts to inoculate children aged 12 to 17 from tomorrow, November 7.
