HCMC – The central city of Hue attracted more than 2.7 million visitors in the first five months of 2025, up 67% year-on-year, according to local tourism authorities.
International arrivals reached nearly 1.1 million during the period. Tourism revenue was estimated at more than VND5 trillion, up 55% year-on-year, Hue Ngay Nay Online news website reported.
The surge in visitors was driven by activities under the National Tourism Year 2025 and the Hue Festival, which began earlier this year.
Hue’s tourism department expects the number of visitors to reach 3.3 million by the end of June and aims to attract 5.5 to 6 million for the full year. The peak domestic travel season began in April, while international arrivals are forecast to rise from September.
The city is expanding tourism promotions in key markets including France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Southeast Asia.
Local authorities are also developing niche tourism products such as heritage tours, culinary experiences, agri-ecotourism, golf and sightseeing packages, and community-based tourism. New promotional packages are being prepared for both local and overseas markets.
