HCMC – The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project has disbursed nearly 93% of its 2025 public investment budget and reached 96.5% of construction progress, reported Vietnam News Agency.

The bridge connects the Mekong Delta provinces of Vinh Long and Dong Thap. It is expected to be completed in early August and opened to traffic before National Day on September 2.

As of July 9, nearly VND626 billion of the VND673.8 billion allocated for 2025 had been disbursed, said Nguyen Nam Phong, director of the project’s management unit.

The funding has helped contractors speed up construction by addressing capital delays and mobilizing equipment and labor.

Paving work on the southern approach of the bridge has been completed. The northern approach is expected to be finished by July 15.

Final stages include completing auxiliary structures, vibration testing on cable-stayed sections, and load assessments.

Dong Thap Province has begun building a 5.2-hectare resettlement area for affected households. The site will include 324 plots and is expected to be completed by year-end.

The project has a total investment of VND6.81 trillion, financed by the state budget. The main span is a cable-stayed bridge.
