HCMC – The Department of Education and Training of HCMC, in collaboration with Kirin Vietnam, launched a competition on laws on November 9, with total prize money reaching more than VND100 million.
First organized in 2013, the “HCMC Students and Laws” contest with the theme “Youth’s Voice” has been held annually and highly appreciated by schools in the city. This year’s competition is expected to create an interesting and meaningful playground for students in the “new normal” amid the Covid pandemic.
It aims to help students develop critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills and improve their knowledge of laws in multiple fields, especially related to Covid-19 infection prevention and control.
Duong Tri Dung, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Education and Training, said, “This year’s ‘HCMC Students and Laws’ competition is organized creatively, complies with anti-pandemic measures and meets requirements on improving knowledge about laws among the students. We believe the competition will attract more and more students to the city.”
Wada Kenichiro, representative of Kirin Vietnam, said, “We want to offer an opportunity for students to learn more about laws, especially those related to Covid-19 infection prevention and control. Through the program, we hope that students will have a wonderful experience and be able to raise their voice about the surrounding world, just like the competition’s theme ‘Youth’s Voice – Speak Up!’”
The competition is open to students of both private and public high schools, colleges, vocational centers and educational institutions in the city.
The competition has two pools, including pool A for students of junior high schools and pool B for students of senior high schools, centers for continuing education, vocational centers, intermediate schools and colleges.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s competition is being held virtually.
In the qualifying round at the school level, from November 14 to December 24, 2021, the students are required to complete a test that comprises 20 multiple-choice questions on www.tiengnoituoitre.com.
Five schools with the highest scores of pool A in each district or Thu Duc City and 20 schools with the highest scores of pool B will advance to the next round.
The district-level final round will be held from January 4 to January 11, 2022, followed by the semifinals from January 24 to January 27, 2022. The finale and award ceremony will take place on January 29, 2022.
