HCMC — The central province of Ha Tinh plans to develop 35 resettlement areas for households affected by the planned North-South high-speed railway project, reported the local media.
The resettlement areas will cover 87.4 hectares and cost an estimated VND1.1 trillion. About 2,000 households will be affected by the 103.42-kilometer railway section running through the province. Of those, around 1,279 will need to be relocated, according to the Ha Tinh Department of Construction.
The railway section starts in Bac Hong Linh Ward, near the border with Nghe An Province, and ends in Vung Ang Ward, bordering Quang Binh Province. It passes through 18 communes and five wards.
Construction of the first resettlement area, covering 4.9 hectares in Ha Huy Tap Ward, is scheduled to begin on August 19.
The province looks to start work on the remaining areas by October and complete them before June next year. Authorities said at least 80% of the railway project’s land must be cleared by December 2026, with full clearance targeted by December 2027.
