HCMC – Vietnam’s exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products hit US$45.37 billion between January and August, up 12% against the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Of the total, farm produce exports brought in US$24.4 billion, seafood shipments exceeded US$7 billion, and forestry products nearly US$12 billion. Livestock exports contributed US$410 million.

Coffee remained the top export growth driver, with 1.2 million tons shipped in the first eight months of 2025, earning US$6.42 billion. Export volume rose 8.7% year-on-year, while value jumped 59.1%, thanks to an average export price of US$5,580 per ton, up 46.4%.

Higher export prices boosted earnings for several commodities despite falling volumes.

Rubber exports totaled 1.1 million tons worth US$1.94 billion, down 1.2% in volume but up 10.2% in value.

Cashews brought in US$3.24 billion as prices rose 17.8% despite a 1.2% dip in shipments, while pepper exports reached US$1.12 billion, even with volumes down nearly 10%.

By contrast, rice exports rose 2.2% in volume but fell 17.5% in value, averaging only US$504.9 per ton as export prices dropped nearly 20%.

Tea exports also declined in both volume and value, down 7.9% and 11% respectively, to 86,600 tons worth US$144.7 million.

Fruit and vegetable exports reached US$4.62 billion, down 2.2%, due to a 15.1% slump in shipments to China, which accounts for more than half of the total export value.

The United States ranked first with 20.9% of total export value, followed by China at 19% and Japan at 7.1%. Compared to the same period last year, exports to the U.S. rose 8.1%, to China 2.6%, and to Japan 19.8%.
