HCMC – Thu Duc City and Go Vap, 11 and Cu Chi districts in HCMC have upgraded their Covid-19 transmission risk level from low to moderate, according to an announcement by the municipal Department of Health on November 15.
Can Gio District, meanwhile, reported a high risk of pandemic transmission, the local media reported.
Thus, from November 6 to 12, while ten districts—1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Phu Nhuan, Tan Phu, Tan Binh and Binh Chanh—were pegged as low risk, Thu Duc City and 10 other districts—3, 10, 11, 12, Binh Tan, Binh Thanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Go Vap and Nha Be—were at moderate risk.
Binh Chanh District saw its pandemic transmission risk level change from moderate to low.
The whole of HCMC was still at moderate risk.
The city recorded nearly 7,800 new Covid-19 cases from November 6 to 12 and over 6,600 cases in the previous week, which is deemed moderate compared to the city’s population at 9.1 million people.
As for the criteria involving the number of community-infected cases out of 100,000 residents per week, the city had an average of 79.4 cases, or reaching the third level (from 50 to fewer than 150 cases).
As for the vaccination rate criteria, as of November 12, nearly 99.8% of residents 18 and older in the city have got at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose and 96.5% of people 50 and older have been fully vaccinated.
In addition, the city has plans to establish Covid-19 treatment facilities and ensure an adequate number of intensive care unit (ICU) beds to be prepared for the highest pandemic transmission risk.
Thu Duc City and all the districts have also set up pop-up healthcare stations and teams to take care of Covid-19 cases in the community and provide oxygen to health stations in communes, wards and towns.
As of November 15, HCMC had recorded nearly 448,600 Covid-19 cases in the current fourth Covid-19 wave.
