HCMC — Nearly 14,500 people who left their jobs as part of Vietnam’s administrative restructuring have yet to receive their compensation.

As of October 9, a total of 14,496 eligible individuals were still waiting for their payments, according to the ministry’s report to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc.

The ministry proposed that the prime minister allow ministries, central agencies, and local authorities to continue making payments until October 15 for those who had decided to retire or leave their posts before August 31 but have not yet received compensation.

The payments are made under Government Decrees 178/2024 and 67/2025, which provide benefits for officials, public employees, and workers affected by the administrative restructuring.

Delays occurred because several ministries and localities received their final budget allocations only between October 8 and 9, preventing timely disbursement through the State Treasury, the ministry said.

According to Conclusion 195-KL/TW issued on September 26, the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee directed that all payments be completed by October 15, 2025. Prime Minister Chinh had urged agencies to accelerate the process and, if possible, finalize payments before October 10.

The Finance Ministry also proposed additional funding for some units, including the Voice of Vietnam, to cover payments for employees of entities that have ceased operations, such as the VTC Digital Television Network.
