HCMC – Hanoi authorities will conduct a comprehensive inspection of parking services and transport infrastructure projects across the city by the end of 2025.

The Hanoi Department of Construction said the campaign aims to address illegal use of roads and sidewalks for parking, unauthorized fees, and unsafe construction practices, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

Inspection teams will review licensed parking areas and take action against illegal parking on streets and sidewalks. They will check locations, boundaries, signage, pricing boards, staff identification, and hotline information. Unauthorized fee collection points will be penalized, and unapproved signs and road markings will be removed.

Violations remain common in the center of the city, where cars and taxis often stop or park illegally near hospitals and shopping centers, causing congestion during peak hours. Authorities are expected to work with local governments to prevent repeated violations.

The campaign will also target construction projects affecting transport infrastructure. Inspectors will monitor projects that exceed permitted timelines or scope, lack traffic guides, leave materials on streets after work, or operate without permits. Violators may face suspension, permit revocation, or fines.

The inspections will continue until the end of 2025, with intensified efforts during the Lunar New Year period in early 2026. The campaign also includes public awareness efforts to discourage sidewalk encroachment and promote proper use of parking and stopping areas.
