HCMC — The Long Thanh International Airport Project Management Board has completed the connection of the airport’s 110kV substation to its 22kV power receiving station, enabling medium-voltage electricity supply for upcoming system tests.

The connection was completed on November 29 and marks a key step toward preparing for the airport’s first technical flight on December 19, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

The 110kV substation, built inside the airport, has two transformers with a total capacity of 80 MVA. The facility is now fully operational and designed to supply electricity for current needs and future operations. The shorter 22kV transmission distance is expected to reduce power loss and improve voltage stability.

Construction work is underway across major components of the airport, including the passenger terminal, taxiways, aircraft aprons, internal roads, and the fuel supply system.

Contractors have recently increased resources to accelerate installation at the terminal. The project aims to support the December 19 technical flight and begin commercial operations in the first half of 2026.
