Tan Son Nhat airport to hit record high in traffic today

HCMC – Tan Son Nhat International Airport is projected to handle a record-breaking 1,037 flights and approximately 170,798 passengers today, (February 20), the fourth day of the Lunar New Year.

This marks the highest operational volume recorded during the 2026 Tet holiday period.

The schedule for today includes 518 departures (358 domestic and 160 international) and 519 arrivals (360 domestic and 159 international). The total passenger count is estimated at 170,798, including 70,903 departing passengers and 99,895 arriving passengers.

Terminal-specific breakdowns highlight the significant role of the newly operational teminal T3, which is expected to handle 459 flights (229 departures, 230 arrivals) and serve nearly 67,000 passengers. Meanwhile, Terminal T1 (domestic) is slated for 259 flights serving 44,731 passengers, and the Terminal T2 (international) will operate 318 flights with over 59,000 international travelers.

Despite the post-Tet surge, airport representatives confirmed that coordination between ground services, security, and airlines has been intensified. Measures are in place to ensure aviation safety, minimize congestion, and provide a seamless travel experience for passengers during the peak spring travel season.
