HCMC – Vietnamese travelers rank highest in Asia in readiness to use artificial intelligence (AI) for travel, with 81% of respondents in Vietnam saying they will use AI for their next trip, according to the Travel Trends 2026 report released by digital travel platform Agoda.
The figure exceeds the regional average of 63%, making Vietnam the leading market in Asia in terms of AI adoption for travel planning.
The report shows that Vietnamese travelers have used AI to optimize itineraries, most commonly through applications suggesting attractions and local activities, recommending restaurants and dining options, building personalized travel schedules (30%), and providing real-time language translation (30%).
In addition to usage rates, 86% of surveyed Vietnamese respondents said they either trust or feel neutral about AI-generated information. Of these, 28% said they fully trust such information, while 59% expressed a neutral stance.
Earlier, the Travel Trends 2026 report conducted by Amadeus in collaboration with Globetrender found that the global travel industry is entering an era shaped by AI.
According to that report, 18% of travelers have used AI to plan trips, while 36% have used the technology to explore and search for destinations. AI is increasingly functioning as a digital travel assistant, supporting users from inspiration to itinerary building.
The report also noted a new travel behavior pattern in which travelers draw inspiration from AI, then verify information through platforms such as YouTube and Instagram before making final decisions.
The findings reflect a broader shift toward smart travel models, with greater emphasis on flexibility and personalized experiences, amid accelerating digital transformation and technology adoption in Vietnam across work, education, shopping and entertainment sectors.
