HCMC – Phu Nhuan Jewelry JSC (HOSE: PNJ) will appoint Phan Quoc Cong as general manager from April 3, replacing Le Tri Thong, who will remain vice chairman of the board.
PNJ said that Thong will step down from the role of general manager following his personal request and a succession plan prepared in advance by the board of directors. After the transition, Thong will continue as vice chairman and focus on strategy and long-term development.
Phan Quoc Cong, 56, has more than 30 years of experience in corporate management. Cong previously held management roles at Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group, Electrolux Vietnam, SmithKline Beecham, and Nestlé Vietnam.
Closing the trading session today, March 2, PNJ advanced 2.13% to VND124,500, with a trading volume of nearly 4.2 million shares.
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index fell 34.23 points, or 1.82%, to 1,846.1 points at the close, with decliners more than doubling gainers on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE).
The exchange saw 244 losers and 106 gainers. Trading volume reached nearly 1.55 billion shares valued at VND47.27 trillion, up 66.7% in volume and 57.3% in value from the previous session. Block deals accounted for 131.3 million shares worth VND3.73 trillion.
The VN30-Index dropped 51 points. Decliners outnumbered gainers by 25 to five. VHM plunged to its floor price, with 6.6 million shares traded. Other major stocks that fell included BID, down 5.6%, TCB, down 4.4%, and VRE and VPL, each down more than 4%.
Some stocks moved higher. GAS, PLX, and GVR surged to their daily price limits. STB added 2.3%, and DGC rose 2%.
Banking, securities, and steel stocks extended losses. Among the most actively traded stocks, SHB fell 1.9% with 88.1 million shares traded, HPG dropped 1% with 86.9 million shares traded, and SSI declined 1.7% with 72.6 million shares traded. VIX fell 4.9%, MBB dropped 3%, and TPB declined 3.3%.
Real estate stocks declined broadly. HDC, DRH, FIR, HAR, and CII fell to their floor prices. DIG ended down 6.4% after recovering from its floor level. Other property stocks fell between 5% and 6%.
In contrast, oil and gas stocks soared. PVD jumped to its ceiling price with 10.6 million shares traded. BSR also reached its daily upper limit with nearly 10 million shares changing hands.
Fertilizer stocks DCM and DPM both rose to their ceiling prices. DCM traded 8.7 million shares, while DPM traded 17.3 million shares, both with large buy orders remaining.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell 3.82 points, or 1.45%, to 259 points. The exchange recorded 112 declining stocks and 71 gainers, with trading volume exceeding 138.2 million shares valued at VND3.32 trillion.
