HCMC — The An Giang Project Management Authority said on March 18 that 57,320 square meters of land for a rest area along Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway has been cleared and that construction tenders will be invited.
The rest area will be located on both sides of the VND45-trillion expressway’s 57km section passing through An Giang Province.
Late last month, Can Tho City and An Giang Province submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Construction to expand the 188-km Chau Doc–Can Tho–Soc Trang Expressway which originally has four lanes.
Under this proposal, components 2, 3, and 4 (which spans over 132km through Can Tho) should be upgraded from the 4-lane configuration to six lanes. The preliminary cost of these three components is estimated at VND18.6 trillion.
In another development, if approved, the expansion of the project’s Component 1 spanning over 57km through An Giang Province will also be upgraded to six lanes. This section alone is estimated to cost VND11.2 trillion. The expansion project is slated to break ground in early 2027 and reach completion by late 2029, ensuring synchronization with the overall expressway network.
