HCMC – The ground-breaking ceremony of the VND147-trillion Hanoi-Quang Ninh high-speed railway project will be held on April 12 this year, according to the latest plan released by the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province.
The VinSpeed High-Speed Rail Investment and Development JSC, an infrastructure arm of Vingroup, will develop the project under public-private partnership (PPP) at a total cost of over VND147 trillion, which excludes VND10.27 trillion in compensation and site clearance costs covered by the State budget.
Scheduled for operation by 2028, the 120-km electrified double-track line is designed for a maximum speed of 350 km per hour, drastically cutting travel time between the capital city and the world-renowned Halong Bay in Quang Ninh Province.
Passing through Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, the line will start at Co Loa Station in Hanoi and ends at the Tuan Chau Park area in Quang Ninh. The project features five major stations and a dedicated technical maintenance depot. Quang Ninh’s portion alone stretches nearly 40 km.
