Holiday airfares climb 5–8%

HCMC – Domestic airfares for the April 30 and May 1 holiday have increased by 5–8% compared to the previous week, with some routes exceeding VND5 million and seat occupancy rates rising across key travel routes.

Economy-class fares, including taxes and fees, on the Hanoi–HCMC route range from VND3.8 million to VND4.5 million depending on carrier. Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways list the highest fares at around VND4.2–4.5 million, while Vietjet Air ranges from VND3.5–4.2 million and Vietravel Airlines from VND3.6–4.1 million.

On tourism routes, fares have also climbed. On April 29, the HCMC–Danang route is priced at VND2.9–3.5 million with Vietnam Airlines, while Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways offer fares between VND2.1–2.9 million. The Hanoi–Danang route records VND2.9–4 million with Vietnam Airlines and VND2.4–3.2 million with other carriers.

Some long-haul domestic routes show higher prices. The Hanoi–Phu Quoc route with Vietnam Airlines reaches VND5–5.5 million, while Vietjet Air ranges from VND3.5–5 million. The HCMC–Phu Quoc route ranges from VND2–3.2 million, and Hanoi–Cam Ranh from VND3.8–4.6 million.

Return flights see stronger price increases toward the end of the holiday. On May 3, the Cam Ranh–Hanoi route with Vietjet Air reaches VND4.2–4.6 million, with many economy-class seats sold out on multiple flights. From Cam Ranh to HCMC, Vietjet Air fares range from VND2.2–2.6 million and Vietnam Airlines from VND2.8–3.4 million.

On the Phu Quoc–Hanoi route on May 3, most economy-class tickets are sold out. Meanwhile, return flights to HCMC are priced at VND2.3–3.2 million with Vietnam Airlines and VND2.1–2.6 million with other carriers.

Alongside rising fares, booking rates on tourism routes from Hanoi and HCMC have increased during the peak period. On the first days of the holiday, including April 25–26 and April 29–30, many routes to tourist destinations report load factors of 80–100%, including HCMC–Phu Quoc, HCMC–Tuy Hoa, HCMC–Con Dao, HCMC–Pleiku, Hanoi–Tuy Hoa, Hanoi–Nha Trang, Hanoi–Danang, and Hanoi–Dong Hoi.

Return demand is expected to rise toward the end of the holiday, especially on May 2–3, with many routes back to Hanoi and HCMC recording load factors above 80%.

The HCMC–Hanoi trunk route still has available seats, with average load factors of 30–50%, offering passengers more flight options during the holiday period.
