CAN THO – A map of Vietnam made entirely from sticky rice and coconut milk was recognized as the largest of its kind in the country on April 26, as part of the 13th Southern Folk Cake Festival in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The record-setting piece measures two meters wide, 2.6 meters long and 10.3 centimeters thick, weighing around 600 kilograms. The model fully recreates Vietnam’s territorial shape and was crafted by 103 artisans and professional chefs from across the country.

The event was directed by the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with Vietcoco and the Mekong Delta Professional Chefs Association. It is among the highlights of the festival and is held in conjunction with the Hung Kings’ Death Anniversary, which falls on the 10th day of the third lunar month (April 26 this year).

According to organizers, the record aims not only to honor traditional culinary values but also to promote the local image and leverage food culture for tourism development. Through the image of Vietnam’s map rendered in a rustic sticky rice dish, the event conveys a message of gratitude to ancestors and national pride.

The event drew thousands of visitors, adding a festive highlight to tourism in the Mekong Delta during the holiday period.
