HCMC – Thousands gathered in downtown HCMC on the evening of April 30 to watch fireworks displays held to mark the 51st anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation.
The city staged fireworks displays at eight locations, with three of them at high altitude and the remaining five at low altitude. The main shows lasted 15 minutes from 9:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., while a shorter five-minute display took place in Can Gio Commune from 9:00 p.m. to 9:05 p.m.
The high-altitude fireworks were launched from the Saigon River Tunnel area in An Khanh Ward, the New City in Binh Duong Ward, and Ba Ria Park Square in Ba Ria Ward. The low-altitude displays were held at the Cu Chi Tunnels, Dam Sen Park, the Saigon Marina IFC tower, the Kim Long residential area, and the Can Gio coastal area.
Crowds began building from around 6:00 p.m. on the main streets such as Ton Duc Thang, Le Duan, and Dong Khoi. Parking areas near viewing points filled early, with many people leaving vehicles kilometers away and walking into the city center.
