HCMC – The third phase of the month-long “Saigon Times – Great Circle” program titled “Together we win Covid-19”, kicked off from mid-August, and will focus on sharing difficulties with those who are on the frontlines in the fight against the novel coronavirus along with the support of the business community and other donors.
From now till August 30, the program will prioritize sponsoring epidemic prevention equipment such as masks, medical gloves, protective suits and other necessities for health care workers and border guards.
The program’s organizing committee will work with the Vietnamese Border Guard to hand over thousands of supplies and equipment for Covid-19 epidemic prevention at the border lines stretching from the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai to the southern province of Kien Giang.
Reportedly, the Vietnamese Border Guard has established teams to prevent the spread of and fight against the novel epidemic outbreak on the border lines, in addition to receiving Vietnamese citizens returning home and fighting against illegal immigration.
As the border guard forces are more susceptible to the coronavirus, the sponsorship will encourage them in the fierce and long fight to win the war against Covid-19.
Besides, the program will also work with the Danang Department of Health to donate special antibacterial masks and protective suits to health care workers at hospitals and quarantine areas around Danang City, which is currently seen as the center of the coronavirus outbreak in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, in Quang Nam, the number of people infected with Covid-19 is the second highest after Danang, and the “Saigon Times – Great Circle – Together we win Covid-19” will work with the Quang Nam Tourism Association (QTA) to donate equipment to health care workers and people in need.
Phan Xuan Thanh, Chairman of QTA, said medical centers and quarantine areas in Quang Nam are in need of a large number of items such as antibacterial clothes, masks, disinfectant and saline.
“Following the success of the program’s first phase aimed at helping poverty-stricken people overcome the hardships caused by the Covid-19 pandemic earlier this year and the second phase titled “Together with Vietnam’s Tourism”, the Saigon Times Group intends to continue supporting the society in winning the war against Covid-19, ” stated Tran Minh Hung, editor-in-chief of the Saigon Times Group.
He noted that through this program, the Saigon Times seeks to promote the spirit of sharing difficulties with those who are on the frontlines in the fight against the novel coronavirus as well as the poor and unemployed affected by Covid-19.
On this occasion, the Saigon Times Group calls on readers—businesses and individuals alike—to participate in the program.
