HCMC – PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS, HOSE: GAS) has received nearly 120,000 tons of imported LNG and LPG from Canada and the United States, bolstering fuel supplies for power generation and domestic consumption.

The shipments comprised around 73,000 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Canada and approximately 45,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the United States, according to the Petrovietnam subsidiary.

The LNG cargo arrived at the Thi Vai LNG terminal on June 7 aboard the vessel Methane Mickie Harper. PV GAS described it as one of the largest LNG shipments it has handled this year, helping supply fuel to gas-fired power plants.

Another LNG shipment of about 15,000 tons from Australia is scheduled to arrive on June 17-18. PV GAS is also selecting a supplier for an LNG cargo due in early July to meet demand from PV Power and support the domestic gas-fired electricity system.

Separately, the vessel Clipper Wilma delivered roughly 45,000 tons of LPG imported from the United States.

PV GAS said that the LPG imports would strengthen storage capacity and help maintain stable supplies for residential, commercial, and industrial users during a period of higher demand.

The company has arranged about 140,000 tons of LPG imports, including refrigerated and pressurized products, for June and July. Together with domestic production, those volumes are expected to meet demand from local customers and Petrovietnam Gas-branded distribution channels nationwide.

The imports form part of PV GAS’s strategy to secure energy supplies and optimize the use of infrastructure investments, including the Thi Vai LNG terminal and large-scale refrigerated LPG storage facilities.

In the first six months of the year, PV GAS imported around 354,000 tons of LNG. Combined with planned LPG imports and domestic gas and LPG output, the company said that supplies would be sufficient to support power production, industrial activities, and household demand.
