HCMC – Vietnam Airlines launched its first direct service between Hanoi and Amsterdam on June 16, becoming the first Vietnamese carrier to operate a nonstop route to the Netherlands and expanding its European network.

Flight VN83 departed Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport at 3:50 a.m. local time with nearly 300 passengers on board, operated by an Airbus A350 wide-body aircraft. The flight was scheduled to arrive at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport after around 12 hours.

The return service, VN82, departed Amsterdam at 2:00 p.m. local time the same day.

The airline will operate three round-trip flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays using Airbus A350 aircraft.

The new route links Vietnam’s capital with Amsterdam, a major European hub for finance, trade and logistics, providing travelers with a direct connection between Vietnam and the Netherlands as well as access to onward destinations across Europe.

The launch is part of Vietnam Airlines’ strategy to expand its international network, particularly in Europe. With Amsterdam added to its schedule, the carrier now operates 12 direct routes between Vietnam and Europe, serving eight destinations: Amsterdam, Paris, London, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan, Copenhagen and Moscow.

Vietnam Airlines said the route would strengthen economic, trade and tourism ties between Vietnam and the Netherlands while enhancing connectivity between Vietnam and key European markets.
