Police open fire, arrest five drug traffickers in Ha Tinh

HCMC – Police and task forces fired several bullets toward the sky while laying siege to arrest a group of five drug traffickers on National Highway 1A in Ha Tinh Province today, September 4.

At 10.00 a.m., on a section of the national highway in Ky Nam Commune of Ky Anh Town, the competent forces from the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes under the Ministry of Public Security and the Ha Tinh police suspected a Kia Cerato car with a plate number licensed by Nghe An Province of illegally transporting illicit drugs and stopped it for an inspection.

However, the driver of the car, which was carrying five people, hit the accelerator to speed off, forcing the police to open fire and chase the suspected drug traffickers.

After outpacing the car, many police in civilian clothes quickly surrounded the car and controlled the five.

A representative from the Ha Tinh police department told Thanh Nien Online that two soldiers had suffered mild injuries while overpowering the drug traffickers.

The competent forces confiscated 21 kilograms of synthetic drugs, three kilograms of ketamine and 18 bars of heroin.

The police are in the process of identifying these traffickers and expanding the investigation into the drug trafficking ring.
