HCMC – The Saigon Times Foundation (STF), a non-profit organization of the Saigon Times Group, has presented 458 “STF-Pham Phu Thu” scholarships worth a total of VND500 million to children orphaned by Covid-19 or infected with the coronavirus in the central province of Quang Nam.
The scholarships was presented from January 7 to 11, with support from the Supporting Association for People with Disabilities, Children Rights and Poor Patients of Quang Nam Province and sponsorship from The Pearl Of The Far East PFEC Corporation.
The STF gave seven scholarships worth VND7 million each to children orphaned by Covid and 451 scholarships worth VND1 million each to child Covid patients in Dien Ban Town, Tam Ky City and the districts of Hiep Duc, Nam Giang, Nam Tra My, Nui Thanh, Phuoc Son, Que Son and Tien Phuoc.
“I hope that the program will be expanded so that more children who are orphaned by Covid or infected with the virus will receive better care and support,” said Ho Thi Thanh Lam, chairwoman of the Supporting Association for People with Disabilities, Children Rights and Poor Patients of Quang Nam Province.
She believes that the scholarships will encourage the children to study harder and help them overcome difficulties, losses and financial hardships.
