HCMC – Those traveling on international flights to Vietnam will no longer have to take pre-departure and on-arrival rapid Covid-19 tests as previously required, according to the Government Office.
The Government Office today, January 28, sent a dispatch to its relevant agencies, saying Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh had approved a plan for increasing the frequency of regular international air links between Vietnam and three regional markets: Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, and reopening air services to Europe and Australia to meet the rising travel demand ahead of and during the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to the dispatch, the pre-departure and on-arrival rapid antigen tests have now been eliminated for passengers arriving on these international flights. This is the most awaited news for airlines.
Besides, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked its representative agencies abroad to facilitate negotiations with their partners so that scheduled flights linking Vietnam and other markets could be resumed and Vietnamese citizens would not be sent into mandatory isolation upon arrival from countries such as Singapore, Japan and South Korea.
The representative agencies of Vietnam also have to work with their partners on entry guidelines for Vietnamese citizens who were refused entry to some countries and territories.
Further, the deputy PM asked the Health Ministry to issue detailed guidelines on Omicron response measures for people entering Vietnam.
