HCMC – The Haiphong Department of Health is working with other relevant agencies to place the fifth floor of the five-star hotel Roygent Parks in Haiphong City under lockdown after a 33-year-old Japanese man who stayed there tested positive for Covid-19.
In addition to disinfecting the floor, which has 13 rooms, and the reception area of the hotel, the competent agencies quarantined six receptionists and employees pending the results of the second test.
The man had worked at Kyocera Vietnam in an industrial park in Thuy Nguyen District and stayed at Roygent Parks on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Le Chan District.
He has been working in Vietnam since 2018. On October 4, he went to work at Kyocera Vietnam by a bus provided by the hotel with 13 others and a driver. He returned to the hotel in the afternoon and left at 7.30 p.m.
Before flying back to Japan on October 5, he held a farewell party for his colleagues.
He tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, following a real-time PCR test upon arrival in Osaka, Japan, at 10.10 a.m.
After being notified of the case, the Haiphong Department of Health promptly did contact tracing and quarantined 162 people—who had close contact with him—at their residences, Tien Phong Online reported.
The samples of 125 people have been taken and sent to the city’s preventive health center for testing.
Since April 18, Roygent Parks, which has 20 floors, has been serving 91 guests—88 Japanese, one South Korean and two Vietnamese nationals.
