HCMC – All 548 gas stations in HCMC have been operating as normal, said director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade Bui Ta Hoang Vu.
At a press briefing on February 11, Nguyen Thanh Trung, chief inspector of the department, said the department sent teams to inspect filling stations citywide on February 10 and 11.
The teams found two gas stations which did not open at the inspection time, of which, one was waiting its supplier to transport fuels to the gas station, while another closed at 6 p.m. while it had earlier registered to operate from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. However, the gas station closed early as many of its employees were infected with Covid-19, leading to a shortage of employees.
Director of the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade Vu said the fuel supply would be stable in the upcoming days as the fuel production capacity would be raised and the fuel import ensured.
On February 10, the Ministry of Industry and Trade dispatched a delegation to southern cities and provinces to inspect fuel traders, distributors and retailers.
In related news, the trading of fuels in many localities in the Mekong Delta has been also stable.
Vo Van Chieu, director of the Soc Trang Department of Industry and Trade, told The Saigon Times that gas stations in the province had been provided with sufficient fuels and resumed their operations.
Truong Thanh Su, deputy director of the Vinh Long Department of Industry and Trade, shared the view, saying that only several gas stations in the province remain shut for maintenance.
Before the Tet holiday, 10 gas stations proposed suspending their operations to repair their facilities. At present, the repairing of some stations has yet to be completed, while some gas stations had no gasoline left in their storage tank.
The province is now home to 375 gas stations whose 70% of fuels are provided by Petrolimex, NSH Petro and PVOil. Therefore, the local demand for fuels has been met, Su added.
Meanwhile, director of the Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade Ha Vu Son said the city currently had some 300 gas stations and they were operating as normal. The department had enhanced inspections into gas stations in the city but had yet to find any violations.
