HCMC – Vietnam has achieved the mutual recognition of Covid vaccine passports with 17 countries, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
These nations are the United States, Britain, Japan, Australia, Belarus, India, Cambodia, the Philippines, the Maldives, Palestine, Turkey, Egypt, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Singapore, Saint Lucia and South Korea, the ministry’s spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said on March 21.
Holders of vaccine passports from these countries and Vietnam are subject to the same health measures as local vaccinated people. The recognition includes the exemption of procedures for consular authentication or legalization.
The spokesperson said that the ministry and the Vietnamese representative offices in other countries and territories were accelerating the mutual recognition of vaccine passports, the local media reported.
Besides, Vietnam has temporarily recognized the Covid vaccine passport templates issued by 79 countries and territories.
Vietnam’s vaccine passport includes the holder’s name, date of birth, nationality, targeted disease, number of vaccine shots, date of vaccination, lot number of the vaccine batch, vaccine type, vaccine manufacturers and a serial number. The data will be presented through a QR code which will be valid for 12 months from the date of issuance.
Many countries have employed Covid vaccine passports to reopen their doors to the world and resume socio-economic activities.
Vietnam accepts the Covid-19 vaccines that have been approved by the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States, the European Medicines Agency and the Ministry of Health, Hang told a press briefing in November last year.
