The Prime Minister’s directive to accelerate the construction of the 500kV transmission line circuit 3 and bring it into operation by June 2024 presents an enormous challenge. The project still awaits investment approval, adding to the complexity of the task at hand. The extended 500kV power transmission line circuit 3, consisting of four subprojects spanning a total length of 514 kilometers from Quang Trach (Quang Binh Province) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen Province), is a crucial component of the National Power Master Plan VIII. With a total investment of VND23 trillion, this project aims to increase the power supply from the South to the North to 5,000MW and was originally scheduled for operation in 2025-2026. However, the completion date has been pushed up to June 2024, as instructed by Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien at a meeting on July 8, in order to address the power shortage in the North.
