HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has greenlit plans for developing two aircraft maintenance facilities at the under-construction Long Thanh International Airport, local media reported.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam will oversee the bidding process, which will be conducted domestically. The tendering will take place from the second to third quarters of this year.
The projects aim to construct maintenance areas and provide aircraft maintenance services to meet the needs of Long Thanh International Airport during its first phase. The facilities will be able to service one code E aircraft and two code C aircraft at the same time. An administration building and supporting infrastructure will also be built.
Each of the projects needs an estimated VND785 billion. Construction is expected to take 18 months, with the project operation duration set at nearly 25 years from the completion of the initial investment.
Long Thanh International Airport will cover 5,000 hectares in Dong Nai Province and is designed to handle 100 million passengers and five million tons of cargo annually. The first phase of the airport is expected to be completed and operational by 2026.
