Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province has determined that 2024 will be a breakthrough year to accomplish the goals set out in the Resolution of the 7th Provincial Party Congress and the Socio-Economic Development Plan for the 2021-2025 period. The province is focusing on implementing many economic development plans and goals.
Achievements in 2023
The report on the socio-economic development, defense and security in 2023, and on the directions of socio-economic development, defense and security in 2024 of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province shows that despite many difficulties in 2023, the province has still obtained many important achievements. Some key indicators show positive, estimated results: GRDP excluding oil and gas grows by 5.75%; industrial production value excluding oil and gas increases by 9.47%; accommodation service revenue jumps by 13.77%; tourism service revenue leaps by a staggering 72.09%; and agricultural production value increases by 4.25%. Domestic and foreign investment attraction continues the uptrend, with total registered capital of about US$2.524 billion. Business activity has flourished with 2,005 newly registered enterprises and 1,098 others resuming business.
Key works and projects continue to be promoted, especially inter-regional transport infrastructure connection projects such as Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway – phase 1, Phuoc An bridge, and Vung Tau – Binh Thuan coastal road (DT 994), promising new development spaces and being a powerful driver of growth for Ba Ria – Vung Tau. The province has also completed and submitted its Master Plan to the Prime Minister for approval for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision towards 2050, alongside promptly reviewing, adjusting and approving relevant plans to ensure alignment with the Provincial Master Plan, creating a basis for prompt and synchronous implementation of the Master Plan right after approval.
The fields of culture, education, health and sports meet the needs of people well; the implementation of digital transformation and smart urban construction associated with administrative reform also takes center stage. Policies on social security and improvement in people’s quality of life are implemented promptly and effectively.
Determination in 2024
Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province has determined that 2024 will be a breakthrough year to accomplish the goals set out in the Resolution of the 7th Provincial Party Congress and the Socio-Economic Development Plan for the 2021-2025 period. Even though many difficulties and challenges are predicted in various fields in 2024 such as real estate market, production and business activities, export – import, labor and employment of workers; natural disasters, epidemics and complicated climate change situation, etc., Ba Ria – Vung Tau is still determined to make a breakthrough, focusing efforts on implementing many economic development plans and goals.
Accordingly, the province will continue to effectively implement Action Program No. 26-CTr/TU, dated March 15, 2023 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee to implement Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW of the Politburo on “socio-economic development and maintenance of national defense and security in the Southeast region until 2030, with a vision towards 2045”, including the project to develop Ba Ria – Vung Tau into a national marine economic hub; the project to develop the large-scale industrial – service – urban complex in Phu My town; the project to continue to develop and modernize Cai Mep – Thi Vai international gateway port into the largest international transshipment port in Vietnam, Asia and the world; the research project on a free trade area associated with a seaport in Cai Mep Ha; the project to develop Vung Tau into a high-quality and world-class tourism center; the project to develop Con Dao until 2030, with a vision towards 2050, etc.
The province will direct the disbursement of public investment capital right from the first months of the year, ensuring full completion of the plan, by improving the quality of investment preparation as it attaches paramount importance to the disbursement of public investment capital. At the same time, the province will promote compensation and site clearance for project implementation; implement solutions to resolve problems and improve the occupancy rate of industrial parks and industrial clusters in the province; support investors to quickly complete and put into operation the licensed industrial projects; effectively implement the Provincial Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision towards 2050 right after approval; drastically implement solutions to develop a safe, healthy and sustainable real estate market, etc.
Speaking at the 18th Conference of the Executive Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Pham Viet Thanh emphasized that the Provincial Party Committee will continue to unite, strive and seize every opportunity and advantage, steadfastly overcoming all difficulties and challenges, upholding the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, taking initiative and enhancing creativity, promoting patriotic emulation movements, focusing on leadership, directing drastic implementation, and successfully fulfilling the targets and tasks set out in the 2024 Resolution.
