Among the 11 groups of goods and services in the consumer basket used to calculate the consumer price index (CPI), the two groups with the highest weights recorded the 4th- and 3rd-highest price increases, respectively. Notably, three of the four groups with the highest increases are linked to public services, reflecting recent price adjustment policies for essential goods and services administered by regulatory authorities. Consumer price trends According to a recent report by the General Statistics Office, Vietnam’s average CPI in the first seven months of 2025 rose 3.26% compared with the same period in 2024. Although this figure remains below the year’s target of 4.5%, it is the second-highest seven-month increase in the past five years, only behind the 4.12% rise recorded in 2024. Of the 11 groups of goods, nine saw year-on-year price increases, while only two—post and telecommunications, and transport—declined. The group with the largest increase was medicine and healthcare services, up 13.72%, contributing 0.74 percentage point to the overall CPI, driven by price adjustments under Circular 21/2024/TT-BYT (issued October 17, 2024, by the Ministry of Health).
