HCMC – Ben Cat Town will become a provincial-level city in Binh Duong Province from May 1, as approved by the National Assembly Standing Committee.
Binh Duong now has five provincial-level cities, namely Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An, Di An, Tan Uyen, and Ben Cat.
Under the National Assembly Standing Committee’s resolution, Ben Cat City is established based on the existing natural area and population of Ben Cat Town. The city encompasses seven wards and one commune, namely An Dien, An Tay, Chanh Phu Hoa, My Phuoc, Hoa Loi, Tan Dinh, Thoi Hoa, and Phu An.
With a natural area of 234.35 square kilometers and a population of 364,578, Ben Cat City is designated as a level-3 municipal entity.
Situated 20 kilometers from Thu Dau Mot City in Binh Duong and 50 kilometers from HCMC, Ben Cat City has well-developed traffic infrastructure.
The city is home to numerous industrial parks, including My Phuoc 1, 2, 3, Rach Bap, Dong An 2, and Viet Huong 2. In 2023, Ben Cat attracted 671 investment projects, bringing the total number of operational projects in the area to 6,441.
