HCMC – Vietnam has emerged as a major milk processor in Asia but last year it imported nearly US$1.2 billion worth of milk and other dairy products.

Duong Tat Thang, director of the Livestock Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the country had become the 11th biggest milk processor in Asia, with raw milk output amounting to 1.2 million tons.

However, this volume could not meet the domestic demand, meaning that the milk processing sector still holds great growth potential, he said at a news conference held yesterday, April 24, to introduce the 9th International Livestock, Dairy, Meat Processing, and Aquaculture Exposition (ILDEX Vietnam).

ILDEX Vietnam 2024, with the participation of over 200 domestic and foreign companies, serves as a platform for businesses to exchange information and build business links with partners.

The May 29-31 event will showcase Vietnam’s premier livestock products, contributing to the promotion of the country’s agricultural sector on the global stage.
