BINH DUONG – VSIP Group – the industrial park developer – on March 19 held a ground-breaking ceremony for VSIP III Industrial Park (IP) covering 1,000 hectares. The IP is designed to become an eco- industrial park located in Tan Uyen Town, Binh Duong Province.

This VND6,407-billion project is the third VSIP one in the southern province and the 11th park of VSIP Group – a joint venture between Becamex IDC (Vietnam) and a consortium of Singaporean investors led by Sembcorp Development – across the country.

VSIP III – Binh Duong will help integrate smart technology in activities at the park, from the use of energy, water, waste treatment to traffic management and security.

The investor said that this IP will use real-time monitoring devices to supervise, analyze and optimize performance remotely.

The project’s first phase covering 100 hectares has already met the conditions to be granted Green Mark by the Singapore Building and Construction Authority (BCA) for industrial parks that will make the park become one of the green and sustainable working environments.

Another highlighted feature of VSIP III – Binh Duong is the 50-hectare solar farm providing electricity to major customers in this IP. The park’s first customer that will access the solar farm is the LEGO Group.

According to VSIP Group, 31 domestic and foreign corporations are considering to invest in the VSIP III – Binh Duong, with the area of about 176 hectares and the combined capital of US$1.8 billion.

Reportedly, Sembcorp, the Singapore shareholder of VSIP Group, has worked with Eastern International University (EIU) to establish the EIU-Sembcorp Center for Sustainable Solutions to promote capacity among students as well as to transfer knowledge for trainers on solar energy development.

In addition, Becamex and Sembcorp, through VSIP, intend to invite Singapore International Polytechnic University and Singapore-based Smart Transformation Alliance i4.0 (SiTA) to EIU to train students. VSIP will also help small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises apply relevant 4.0 solutions to improve operational efficiency.

From the first VSIP in Thuan An City, VSIP Group has developed parks nationwide with the combined area of nearly 10,000 hectares in Binh Duong, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Quang Ngai, Nghe An, Binh Dinh and Quang Tri provinces.
