HCMC – Twelve individuals, including Le Tien Phuong, former chairman of Binh Thuan Province’s People’s Committee, have been detained for alleged violations in the management and use of State assets, causing losses.
These actions are part of an ongoing investigation into a beachfront urban tourism area project in Phan Thiet City, invested by Rang Dong Joint Stock Company, the Ministry of Public Security announced today, April 26.
Following the approval of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the police took 11 defendants into custody. Only Nguyen Xuan Phong, former deputy director of the Binh Thuan Tax Department, is currently under a prohibition of leaving the place of residence order.
In addition to Phuong, among those arrested include Do Ngoc Diep, former chairman of the Phan Thiet City People’s Committee, and Nguyen Van Phong, former deputy director of the Binh Thuan Department of Finance, former member of the Standing Committee of the provincial land price appraisal council, and former vice chairman of the Binh Thuan People’s Committee.
Other defendants are former officials from the province’s departments of construction and natural resources and environment.
