HCMC – Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva arrived in Hanoi on the afternoon of March 27, beginning his three-day state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of State President Luong Cuong.
This marks President Lula da Silva’s second visit to Vietnam, after the first time in 2008.
The Brazilian leader was welcomed at the Noi Bai International Airport by Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Duong Duc Tuan, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi.
Accompanying Brazilian President Lula da Silva on this visit is a large delegation, including the heads of both the Senate and the House of Representatives of Brazil, and 12 ministers, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The number of ministers accompanying this visit accounts for more than one-third of the total members of Brazil’s Cabinet. This reflects the leftist leader’s special regard for Vietnam and his expectations of opening up numerous opportunities for cooperation across various fields.
Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Farani said that President Lula da Silva’s trip marks an important milestone in the bilateral relations and dialogue between Vietnam and Brazil.
It aims to implement the strategic partnership that Vietnam and Brazil established in November 2024.
During his time in Hanoi, Brazilian President Lula da Silva is expected to hold talks with Vietnam’s President Luong Cuong. He will also meet with other senior Vietnamese leaders and participate in several important activities.
