HCMC – Doan Huu Duc, CEO of Vietnam Consulting Group, was picked as new honorary consul of the Kingdom of Morocco in HCMC on December 7.

At a ceremony to hand over the exequatur to Duc, Do Hoang Tung, deputy head of the Consular Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, congratulated Duc on his new post and expected Duc, with his experience and knowledge, to boost ties between Vietnam and Morocco.

Tung said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with its arms–the Consular Department and the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs—is willing to cooperate and create favorable conditions for the new honorary consul to fulfill his duties.

Duc expressed his keenness to promote multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Morocco.

The new honorary consul said Morocco, located in northern Africa and connecting with Europe via the strait of Gibraltar, currently leads Africa in renewable energy development.

Morocco plays an important role in fostering trade between Vietnam, the European Union and Africa, especially in the agro-fishery sector in Vietnam and the renewable energy, mining-geology and finance-banking sectors in Morocco.

As an honorary consul of Morocco in HCMC, Duc expected to enhance the bilateral cooperation in culture, education and economy between the two countries. In HCMC, he would boost a program for HCMC and Casablanca City, the strategic partnership between the Saigon and Casablanca ports and the trade of food between Morocco and the Mekong Delta.

Duc is a member of the Saigon Times Club under the Saigon Times Group. He served as  deputy head of the 2030 Businessmen Club under the Saigon Times Club in the sixth and seventh tenures.
