CAN THO – The Mekong Delta province of Ca Mau has asked the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a US$90-million loan to fund two new infrastructure projects, reported local media.
The projects include a 53.12-kilometer coastal road and a 6.5-kilometer urban route. The coastal road would connect with existing routes in the former Bac Lieu and Soc Trang provinces, while the urban road would link the new coastal route to Nam Song Hau Road. The goal is to complete the local transport network and improve goods circulation.
The total estimated cost for the projects is US$157 million. The remaining US$67 million would be provided by the province’s reciprocal funds.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027 and is set for completion in 2030. The province is currently preparing a pre-feasibility study for the projects. ADB is preparing the loan in parallel with its review of the study.
The new infrastructure is expected to support the sustainable development of the province’s marine economy and connect it to the regional economic hub of Can Tho City.
