HCMC – Vehicles operating on fixed routes, contract cars and taxis in Can Tho are not allowed to travel to/from the Covid-19-hit province of Tien Giang starting from 12 p.m. today, June 7, according to a recent announcement by the Can Tho City Department of Transport.

The move is aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus, especially after Tien Giang reported its first infections in the current fourth coronavirus wave.

The transport department said in the announcement that trucks operating upon the request of the authorities, transporting patients for medical treatment, experts of businesses, production materials and essential goods can operate as normal, reported Tuoi Tre Online.

As the spread of the disease is showing no sign of abating, the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho had decided to suspend passenger transport services to/from 40 virus-hit provinces and cities nationwide, including those in the delta such as Long An, Tien Giang, Dong Thap, Tra Vinh and Bac Lieu.
