HCMC – The municipal authorities of Can Tho decided to put the Can Tho Cardiovascular Hospital under quarantine from 5 p.m. yesterday, September 28, to 5 p.m. on October 12 after seven Covid-19 cases linked to the hospital were reported.

During the quarantine period, the hospital will not admit any new outpatients. Emergencies and outpatients will be redirected to other hospitals in the city, while patients hospitalized earlier will continue to receive medical treatment at the hospital, reported Bnews.

The cardiovascular hospital has to map out Covid safety protocols as well as ensure and maintain the provision of medical treatment for inpatients. The hospital’s medical workers and staff, patients and caregivers are not allowed to enter or leave the quarantine area without the permission of the hospital management board. Covid checkpoints were also set up at the hospital.

Earlier, on September 24 and 27, the city’s anti-Covid authority lifted the lockdown previously imposed on Campus No.1 of the Can Tho Oncology Hospital and the Can Tho Maternity Hospital, and asked the municipal Health Department to direct these two hospitals to conduct disinfection works to resume their normal operations at the earliest.

This Mekong Delta city yesterday reported 52 more infections, 48 new recoveries and one more death linked to the coronavirus. Since July 28, it has recorded more than 5,600 cases, including nearly 4,700 recoveries and 84 fatalities.

To date, the city has administered over 345,000 Covid vaccine doses, with around 54,500 people being fully vaccinated.
