Risks of water deficiency

The body does not need much water when temperatures fall. This is why many people suffer from dehydration during winter or when it is cold. Dehydration may be characterized by such symptoms as headache, dry mouth (xerostomia), dry skin (xeroderma), and dizziness. Severe dehydration may cause acute kidney injury and kidney failure. – Heart disease: In cold weather, the body has to try to maintain an appropriate temperature to enable important organs to function properly by using cutaneous blood vessels to adjust the temperature. This may increase blood pressure and thus affect the heart. Dehydration may aggravate this situation. – Constipation: Water can help facilitate digestion and soften stool.
