Foods good for eyes

To have good sight and healthy eyes, aside from a healthy lifestyle, one should have nutritious foods that are good for their eyes, according to Suc khoe & Doi song news site. Vitamin A-rich foods: To have good vision and healthy eyes, one should have sufficient vitamin A. Vitamin A helps form the retina’s pigment that enables vision in low-light conditions. Long-term dry eyes as a result of vitamin A deficiency may cause conjunctivitis (or pink eye), and keratitis. Without timely treatment, keratitis may cause complications, including temporary blurred vision, or blindness for good. Foods that are rich in vitamin A are liver, milk, egg yolk, and fish liver oil. Carotene-rich foods comprise cabbage, bok choy, spinach, pumpkin, tomato, carrot, sweet potato, papaya, jujube, and gac (Momordica cochinchinensis). Foods with omega-3 fatty acids: Studies show that omega-3 fatty acids can help improve vision. DHA is one of the two important omega-3 fatty acids that can help protect the eyes and improve vision. The functioning of rod cells and cone cells depends mostly on DHA. The retina’s long-term DHA deficiency may give rise to age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and cataract.
