Safety tips for runners

Participants in running competitions should take care of their health well so that they can arrive at the finish line safely, according to medical experts. The running movement has been developing strongly throughout the country. However, some running competitions still lack comprehensive medical checkups regarding cardiovascular health and blood pressure of participants. A runner joining the 50km running competition at the Vietnam Ultra Marathon 2024 held on March 23 in the mountainous district of Mai Chau (Hoa Binh Province) fell unconscious. He was promptly hospitalized but died later. In early March this year, a male ninth grader in Quang Trach District (Quang Binh Province) died while taking part in the 200-meter run at a district-level sports tournament. Dr. Trinh Quang Anh, director of the Houston Memorial Rehab (under Phuong Chau General Hospital), told The Saigon Times that the running movement in all cities and provinces of the country attracts people of all ages. Running competitions help improve the health of runners and boost the running movement in society.
